The very base layer of any historical wardrobe in the 19th century is the shift, otherwise later known as the chemise. This garment is a simple white piece of cotton or linen that acts as a sweat shield to protect your other garments, a layer intimate underwear that can be changed out often and is essential to own.
Five chemise styles are available:
1800-1825 Regency gathered neckline chemise
1820-1840 Romantic era gathered neckline chemise
1820-1840 Romantic era simple square necked chemise
1835-1845 Romantic era banded chemise
1840-1865 Victorian round necked chemise
Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery of your chemise.
To order your chemise, you will need to ACCURATELY (have someone else do it and write it down for you) take your measurements:
Front to knee (taken from the base of your neck down to your knee):
Back to knee (taken from the base of your neck down to your knee):
Shoulder length (taken from back armpit, over your shoulder to your front armpit):
Arm width (taken 6″ down from the top of your shoulder):
Armpit measurement (taken from the back armpit, under the arm across to the front armpit):
Bust measurement:
Hip measurement:
