Now Prairie Flower Historical serves customers all over Texas and beyond, and are thrilled to share the passion with you.

Meet the Proprietress

Katelyn’s interest in history began at age 5 when her grandmother gifted her the American Girl doll Kirsten for Christmas.  Between American girl, the Elsie Dinsmore series, Liberty’s Kids, and other historically inspired books and TV shows, Katelyn’s love of history grew and grew.  She made her first historical costume-a pilgrim outfit including a dress, pelerine, cap, and apron-at age eight for the 4H fair and as a Halloween costume.  From then on, Katelyn made many more historical costumes until she discovered the concept of living history while researching a costume for a ‘Victorian ball’ being held as a sort of prom/cotillion by her local homeschool group. This led her into the rabbit hole of creating accurate clothing for the mid 19th century, which grew from there to a love of all things 19th century and beyond. At this point, Katelyn has made accurate clothing for the 1825-1885 time frame as well as the 1911-1955 time frame, growing her interest and skills from women’s clothing to delving into accurate children’s and men’s clothing as well.
